Rivet

Ped Creator

Build a new add-on ped for FiveM from the game's own peds and clothing: dress it with items from any ped, dye them, put your own pictures on them, and change its size.

Open it

The home screen's Ped Creator button. It needs your GTA V folder (Settings). The first time, it reads every ped in the game once (it's remembered after); then it opens in about ten seconds.

Make a ped

  1. Base game peds (left): pick the body to start from, from the picture browser. Keep the outfit changes only the body (the skeleton) and keeps the clothes you've chosen.
  2. Clothing: each slot (head, hair, upper body, legs, shoes, accessories, hats, glasses ...) has a row:
    • the item's picture: click it to browse that slot with pictures,
    • ◀ ▶ to step through the items (all the way back is "nothing worn"),
    • a colour swatch for each of its textures (colour variants): click one to wear it.
  3. From (in the browser): show the items of any ped, and wear a cop's shirt or a story character's shoes on your body. (every ped) shows every human ped's items for the slot at once. Rivet moves borrowed clothing onto your body's skeleton when you export, and warns you when two skeletons don't really match.
  4. Favourites: in the browser, ☆ Favourite (or Ctrl+S) stars an item; the ★ Favourites filter shows just your starred items. They're remembered between sessions.
  5. Wardrobe (the x{n} / + button on a row): give a slot several items, each with one or all of its textures. They export as variations you can switch between in game. Wear picks which one shows, Move up / down sets their order.

Save outfit / Open outfit keep your ped as a .rivetped file to come back to (with its looks and size).

Dye an item or use your own picture (Look)

Each row's Look button (it shows a ✓ when the item has one):

  • Dye: pick a colour, and how strongly it's mixed in. The item's folds, stitching and shading stay. This works on any item, white and grey ones included.
  • Hue / Saturation / Brightness: turn the item's own colours round the colour wheel, make them stronger or paler, lighter or darker. (Hue does nothing on white, grey or black items: dye those instead.)
  • Your own picture: replace the item's texture with a PNG, JPG or DDS of your own (a logo, a design). It's stretched over the item the way the game's texture is, so paint over the game's texture for the best fit.
  • Reset puts the game's texture back.

The ped in the view changes as you go. The look is baked into the item's textures when you export.

Body size (experimental)

Body > Size makes the whole ped taller and broader together, from 80% to 120%. The skeleton and every clothing item are scaled on export. GTA has no ped size of its own, and its animations move the hips by fixed amounts, so a ped far from 100% may float or sink a little in game: test it before you rely on it.

Export to FiveM

  1. Export for FiveM and give the ped a name (lower case letters, numbers and _, starting with a letter).
  2. Rivet writes a resource folder: the model, every clothing item and texture (with your looks), the ped's metadata and fxmanifest.lua.
  3. Put the folder in your server's resources, ensure it, and spawn the ped by its name.

In game, the wardrobe's items switch with SetPedComponentVariation (clothes) and SetPedPropIndex (props).
